Housing Projects

CRDA has been granted $60 million dollars ear-marked specifically for housing development in the CRDA district, as defined by the legislation. The Capital Region Development Authority will work closely with the City, developers and other state agencies in helping to identifying financing options for a mixture of low, moderate and market-rate housing. The amount and nature of financing will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

CRDA seeks projects that are 80% market rate, 20% affordable. The Authority has also designated a portion of its $60 million housing earmark for small mixed use deals within the district.

Three downtown Hartford housing proposals have been presented to the Housing Committee for gap funding consideration: 777 Main Street, On the Plaza and A-I Engineering’s project at 3 Constitution Plaza. Although there is no firm commitment from CRDA, the committee has agreed to set aside an amount subject to further negotiations.

Housing Committee meetings will be held on the first Friday of each month at 9:00am at the CRDA offices unless otherwise announced.
